Techcrunch Pire/Pyre

More on that noise you hear in the back of the blogosphere…crunch, crunch, crunch - as Michael Arrington expands his Techcrunch emPire. Some of his readers are vociferously opposed to this expansion of focus …so hence the play on words.

You won’t find me on the fence though — I’m all for the Crunchpire!

World Class Internet Companies

August 14, 2006 · No Comments

Techcrunch has recently blogged about NetVibes, a UK-based company that’s raised $15 million in series B venture funding. What really resonated for me was the following line:

Will NetVibes join other European based world class internet companies like Skype , Bebo and Habbo?

So…my question and call to all protoganists in Australia is…where are the Australian world class internet companies? We riffed about this recently at an Early Stage VC Roundtable I hosted in Sydney — there is so much intent to get a few really world class companies up in the space that I’d like to think it is inevitable we do get there.

Are you the next big Aussie thing? I’d sure like to imagine that there’s more going on in Australia than is currently on most people’s radar screen…
