MMOGs get all grown up

July 14, 2006 · 1 Comment

Yip, it was inevitable. While Second Life has waves of adultness running through it, coming (excuse the pun) soon is a MMOG dedicated to the act….explicity: The Game by Naughty America.

Imagine…if you dare, the ability to explicitly consummate your wildest fantasies in game or, delving deeper, via webcam.

I’m a huge fan of MMOGs and will share with you some awesome tech we’ve developed in this area (all in good time), but I’ve got to say that while the convergence of MMOGs and social networking has been an inevitable, I’d hoped we could at least do this while keeping our clothes on …for now.

Skypehattack: opening the kimono

July 14, 2006 · No Comments

Jan Geinart has blogged that the Skype protocol has been cracked. Michael Arrington has picked up on this as well. For me it ain’t verified yet, but it sounds plausible, given it was bound to happen sooner or later.

How does this change the game you might ask? Firstly, Meg and her eBay exec team need to recalibrate superfast …the supernode paradigm has shifted. Secondly, this will make a great test case for our legal friends — can they pierce the China veil (since the cracking has allegedly occured in this terrain), given that Skype is persona non China at present.
